Centro Lugano Sud opened in March 1991, and in October 2004 the new annex was built, thereby creating a Regional Shopping Center with 50 shops, which is visited by more than 3 million shoppers every year.
Centro Lugano Sud is one of the most frequented shopping destinations in the region, and attracts visitors from Northern Switzerland and Northern Italy. It offers four main tenant categories product groups: home furnishings (IKEA, the only outlet in the region), electronics (Media Markt, the only outlet in the region)), food & DIY (Coop), fashion (H&M, C&A, Bata, Vögele, and many others) as well as a wide variety of everyday goods and services.
